Heel Spurs & Heel Pain

There are two common causes of Heel pain:

1. Nerve Entrapment
2. Plantar Fasciitis

Heel Pain in Staten Island, NYNerve Entrapment: Often one or more of the nerves running into the heel can get trapped, which causes pain. Classic symptoms include pain that occurs when you get up from sitting or lying down. The pain tends to weaken after 4 or 5 steps. In addition, pressing on the inside of the heel tends to be tender.

Common treatments for a nerve entrapment include steroid injections, 4% Sclerosing Solution injections, proper arch supports and foot gear, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory medication. Radiofrequency is an advanced treatment which utilizes pin point heat to completely relieve the symptoms. Over 90% of our patients have experienced 100% pain relief with just one treatment of Radiofrequency. Ask us how one treatment can rid you of heel pain, and return to work the next day.

Plantar Fasciitis: This is an inflammation of the plantar fascia in the foot. The plantar fascia is the structure in your foot that runs from the base of the toes to the heel and makes up most of the arch. Plantar Fasciitis is characterized as arch pain and tends to worsen as the day goes on. Fasciitis us usually caused by flip flops, flat shoes, barefoot walking or a recent increase in activity while wearing poor foot gear.

Common treatments include arch supports known as orthotics, oral anti-inflammatory medications, proper foot gear and modifying a patients training program. An excellent alternative to house slippers are CROCS Rx.
